EVOLUTION PICTURES, GFM FILMS’ genre division, today announced that Alexander Dreymon and Maite Perroni will star in newly announced neo-noir crime thriller ‘INFIDEL’.

Dreymon, best known for his role as Uhtred in Netflix’ ‘The Last Kingdom’, will play Billy Shannon, a hardened Philadelphia criminal & war veteran who finds himself banished to a corrupt Mexican tourist town when a job goes tragically wrong.  Falling apart inside, Billy has reached a dead end until he meets local girl Ana, played by actress and award-winning recording artist, Maite Perroni.  Perroni’s credits include El Juego de las Llaves (Key’s Game), Amazon Prime’s first Spanish language series.  Inspired by Ana’s desperation to reunite her family, Billy finds something to live for at last and embarks on a quest to help her and deliver his own redemption.

The film will be directed by Leigh Marling, produced by Rory Rooney & Gabriel Heads, and is a co-production between Eight Trick Pony and Evolution Pictures.  Marling has many years’ experience behind the camera having directed successful music videos for Fat Boy Slim, New Order, The Avalanches and Dirty Vegas, winning numerous awards including MTV Europe Best Music Video Award and a Grammy Nomination.  Producer Rory Rooney’s credits include Drowning, Baked In Brooklyn and acclaimed short Oh Baby.  Producer Gabriel Heads’ credits include Trece miedos, Volvo en un minute, and Miss Bala.

Talking about her role as Ana, Maite Perroni said ‘This role Im playing is unlike any other Ive done in the past and a bit outside of my comfort  zone. That’s exactly what attracted me to this project’

Evolution’s Fred Hedman said:  ‘We’re thrilled to be partnering with Eight Trick Pony on this atmospheric neo-noir piece and adding to Evolution’s growing slate of films for 2020.   We were immediately convinced by the film’s commercial value and now with Alex and Maite confirmed to star, the EFM is the perfect market to launch the project to Distributors.’

Commenting from Los Angeles, director Leigh Marling added:  ‘I’ve always loved the idea of telling a story about FAMILY wrapped up in the genre of a neo-noir thriller. In the corrupt world of this story, no-one knows who to trust and violence is always a heartbeat away. Yet these two compelling characters must find a way to come together, defy the odds and bring true family values to the screen. I’m thrilled to be working with these two talented stars to bring this heart-pounding story to life’.
